Three-Peaks Challenge
Competitor profiles
Simon Walmsley - 34yrs;
Simon works as the Assistant Manager at the well known National Sports Centre (NSC). He lives on the island with his wife Wendy and three children. All though in the past Simon has been heavily involved participating in sport, now a days its more behind the scenes; therefore having the chance to climb mountains is a new and exciting challenge which he is looking forward to and one that has already started the heart pumping!
Colin Garvey - 40 yrs;
Colin works as a GP in Douglas and has lived on the Isle of Man for almost 10 years with his wife Colette and 4 children. He originates from St Helens. This mountain climbing business is a new experience for Col, though he enters it with excitement....and a great deal of trepidation!!
Jonathan Wild - 41yrs;
Jonathan is a partner at local Manx law firm Quinn Kneale. He originates from Manchester but has lived on the Island for 12 years and is officially a “stopover”! Jonathan has received lots of support from his wife Gemma (who has joined in training walks and provided supplies!) and his 3 children. He is also looking forward to the challenge and has really enjoyed the training walks which have enabled the whole team to discover new parts of the Isle of Man and sample the variable weather close at hand - from force 10s to calm and brilliant sunshine; but now keeping fingers crossed for fine weather for the challenge itself!
Sean Hoppe - 37yrs;
Sean is an ex rugby league player who has represented his national team New Zealand and also played for St Helens RLFC. He retired from his professional sport in 2002 and has been involved with property development ever since. He is looking forward to the challenge of conquering the three peaks. He thought he had made a bad error of judgement after the first training walk though when the winds were exceeding 100 mile an hour and the rain felt like small stones hitting you in the face. Now the weather has changed he is appreciating the magnificent scenery of the Isle of Man. He can't wait to see the views from the three peaks and it is all in the aid of two great charities.
Neil Williams - 25 yrs;
Neil is a company director for a window manufacturing firm in St Helens. Being the only member of the team not based in the Isle of Man, he is looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the group to join in the team training and find out what it is he’s been missing.
